Feeling Stressed? Your Balance Needs A Check-Up

Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends and spirit, and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged, or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life. – Brian Dyson – CEO Coca Cola Enterprises

As a Life and Business coach I often begin coaching alliances with a focused look at these important areas of life and many clients discover how out-of-alance they are. Have you ever tried to stand on one foot for a period of time? Without holding on to something? Have you noticed how your whole body will cooperate, shift and give a little to reset your point of balance? Balance between all your important life areas is like that too. If you get severely out of balance something shifts, your soul, spirit, relationships, career or immune system seems to let down. Something has got to give. And usually it affects your happiness quotient.

Are you going through life not paying attention to what is important? Coasting along unconscious or on autopilot? Watch what you are taking for granted… the cost might be severe and one you’ll regret. Time to check in: How’s your balance? If you’re out of balance, where can you take some steps, even small ones to realign yourself? What do you need more of? How can you bring yourself back into balance that will serve and work for you? I hope just a good ‘checking-in’ can help you become positively realigned.
