Do you network to grow your business? Do you find it scary to walk into a room of strangers?
Here are 10 Coaching Tips to Help you Get Great Results
Arrive early so you have time to meet others and get the lay of the land.
Take plenty of business cards, but don’t give them out unless you are asked for one. Some organizations will pass them for you at the meeting and anyone interested can take one.
Leave your phone in you pocket or purse while the meeting is going on and before while you have time to meet and talk with others.
First, be friendly and approachable. Say hello. Ask if they attend the meetings often. If they reply yes, ask them how it has helped their business. Think ahead about some questions you can ask that are conversation starters.
Meet someone cool? Follow up after the event – 99% of people don’t. This is how relationships are fostered. Send a text, email or note or call. Make a date to meet up and learn more about what each other does and how you might help each other.
One of my favorites is to connect people you meet at the event to people in your network that are compatible or a good resource. You can benefit while being an expert connector and matchmaker.
Go to give not to get! Share Expertise and Experiences while expecting to receive nothing in return. When you give, it comes back in many other ways. As we say in my BNI network, Givers Gain.
Share your new connections posts, expertise and experience on social media by liking/sharing/following their FB.
With LinkedIn send a connection request with a personalized message.
And if you do business with anyone you meet and it goes well, do a testimonial on LinkedIn or Yelp. Giving a social media thumbs up is one to the most supportive things you can do to help a business owner or service provider do well.
Networking has been key to my success and I have made many new friends along the way.
